Fresh Fruit!

Don't bring home store-bought pops. Make your own adult version with this simple fresh fruit puree recipe. Don't worry if you don't have a fancy mold. We made them right in disposable plastic cups.
Boozy fresh fruit puree pops
There is nothing more refreshing than an ice pop on a hot summer day. These fresh fruit and juice purees also pack a little punch. Just a splash of vodka is mixed in to make this childhood treat into an adult-approved treat.

Yields 4-6

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup blueberry puree
  • 2 tablespoons vodka
  • 1-2 tablespoons superfine sugar (depending on desired sweetness level)
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 4-6 wooden Popsicle sticks

Directions:

  1. Mix blueberry puree, vodka and sugar together. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. In small paper cups (we like small Dixie cups) or a jumbo silicone ice cube mold, fill halfway with blueberry puree.
  3. Freeze for 1 or 2 hours until firm but not solid. Put sticks into the middle of the puree (they should stay in place) and let freeze until firm.
  4. Top off pops with pineapple juice and let freeze until firm.

NOTE

To make blueberry puree add fresh blueberries to a blender and process until smooth. Add enough water or fruit juice in order to make it pourable. To make these child-friendly simply omit the vodka.
